Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to Paperclips, a non-commercial fan reskin of Universal Paperclips available at papercli.ps and through its Android app wrapper.

Paperclips does not require an account, does not show ads, and does not sell user data.

Information Stored on Your Device

Paperclips stores game progress locally in your browser or app WebView storage. This save data can include your game state, progress, upgrades, artifacts, and reset status. This local save data is used only to continue your game between sessions.

Save import and export are manual. If you export a save, the app may write the encoded save string to your clipboard when you press the export button. If clipboard access is blocked, the app shows the save string so you can copy it yourself. The app does not automatically read your clipboard.

Analytics and Hosting

Paperclips uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate usage, such as page views. Vercel describes its Web Analytics product as privacy-focused, cookie-free, and designed for aggregate statistics rather than identifying individual visitors.

The app is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may process standard technical information, such as request logs, IP address, user agent, device information, timestamps, and diagnostic data, for hosting, security, debugging, and operations.

App Cache and Offline Support

Paperclips uses a service worker to cache app files on your device so the app loads faster and can continue to work more reliably. Cached files are app assets, not account records.

Sharing

Paperclips does not sell user data. Limited technical data may be processed by Vercel as the hosting and analytics provider. Save data remains on your device unless you choose to export and share it.

Retention and Deletion

Local save data remains on your device until you reset the game, clear app/browser storage, uninstall the app, or otherwise delete the stored data from your device. Aggregated analytics and hosting logs are retained by Vercel according to Vercel's policies and product settings.

Children

Paperclips is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

This policy may be updated when the app changes. The updated policy will be posted at this same URL with a new effective date.
